The foot launch season at Packsaddle should start out soon.  It is normally open the first week of February.  The weather for aero-towing or platform towing as not been good.  I am getting high air deprived and need a fix.

The year as started out with a bang!  Got an hour off of Lookout and a handful of sled runs.  Headed back to Texas for the spring.  We'll see how it goes.

Packsaddle is only about an hour away now--staying in Lampasas, TX.  First flight off of pack was okay, I got about 45mins and was able to still remember how to land.

The road to the top is in bad shape with all of the rain Texas has seen this year.  But Mark has been able to get his Jeep to the top--have to love the short wheel base.

Back to Pack a few more times.  Have about five flights and another 5+ hours in the log book.

The rain continues in Texas.  Not a lot of flying.  Labor Day is approaching and guess what the forecast is?  Yea, you got it RAIN!

There were a few flying days in September nothing notable.  Couple of flights-couple of hours.

The last weekend of the season at Packsaddle was in October.  Squeezed out a couple of flights and got another couple of hours.  There were more HGs in the air at Pack than I have seen in quite a while.  At one time I counted over seven at once.  If you do not know the site, then trust me when I say that is crowded!

Last Sunday of the 2007 year.  The Texas Hang Gliding Society has gathered at Hearne Airport to shake out the dusk on a truck tow rig.  I got three decent flights on the Falcon.  First tow was about 1,200' AGL and did not find much lift.  The second was about 1,400' and was an extended sled run; finding a small core that topped out at about 800'.  I was able to play around in this for a while.  However, since it was over the main runway, I did not linger long.  Final tow was to about 1,600', again not much out there with the fear of leaving the airport in the SS wing and not being able to get back in a 10MPH cross wind.  Played around in a small core that again topped out at around 900'.  Was more of zero sink than real lift.  Gave up after 25 minutes and made a perfect no step landing.  For a lovely winter day in the low 70s I had a great time!  Just less than an hour to the log book, if I remember to log it.

2006 Flight Log........................

The flying season is just now heating up. The season started with a trip to a couple of the Florida Flight Parks. Getting back in the air after the winter layoff was better than sex (okay I am kidding--or am I). While in Florida I had the opportunity to fly at The Florida Ridge and Wallaby Ranch. Top notch facilities and people. I tried to go to the 'other' Florida flight part and was told, "I am too busy right now. Go outside and I'll find you." Well, I went up the road to Wallaby--I wonder if they ever came looking?

It has not been a very good flying season.  Went aero-towing in Leakey, TX and a few times in Hearne, TX.  Had the chance to fly at Lookout Mountain in Trenton, GA.  On the days I could fly the conditions were never the best.  Had a few flights and racked up a whooping hour of airtime.

Back in Texas the only foot launch site is Packsaddle.  I got a few hours but the weather seems to be against me.  Seems the days I can fly do not match the good flying days.

Check back later for information on the latest flight details.
